This blog is for the posting of Vintage Recipes. I have inherited recipes from both my grandmothers, mother, aunts, etc over the years. I am also a cookbook collector with several old cookbooks in my possession. My goal here is to share with you older recipes that have been lost to many. I hope you will enjoy my blogs and some old memories will be revived by some of the recipes. Note:To save the vintage value of these recipes, I make no changes. You see the original recipe as written.

This is an old recipe card I got back in the 1970s with a Betty Crocker recipe club. I will confess I have never made either of these recipes.

BROWN-SUGAR FROSTING
A fluffy 7-minute frosting with wonderful brown-sugar flavor.
1 egg white
3/4 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons cold water
1 teaspoon light corn syrup or 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
Dash salt
1/4 teaspoon maple flavoring
Place all ingredients except maple flavoring in top of a double boiler (not over heat). Beat 1 minute with electric or rotary beater to blend. Place over boiling water and cook, beating constantly until mixture forms stiff peaks, about 4 to 5 minutes (don't overcook). Remove from boiling water. Add maple flavoring and beat 1 to 2 minutes or till of spreading consistency. Frosts top and sides of a 13x9x2-inch sheet cake or tops and sides of two 8-inch layers.

HOT DOG CHEESIES
This is a recipe I got when I joined a recipe club back in 1970 when we first got out of the Air Force and moved back to Indiana. It is a different way to serve hot dogs!
