I am also a cookbook collector with several old cookbooks in my possession. My goal here is to share with you older recipes that have been lost to many. KRAUT SALAD
1 can kraut
1 med. bell pepper
1 sm. jar pimentos
1/2 onion, chopped
1 cup chopped celery
3/4 cup sugar
Mix together kraut, bell pepper, pimento, onion, celery and then sprinkle sugar on top. Cover and refrigerate.
It's so funny that you posted this recipe, Linda. We had sauerkraut over the weekend and some how the conversation came up about how odd it seemed to buy sauerkraut in a can. I always buy mine in a bag. The subject also came up about the "olden" days of making canned sauerkraut "salad" lol...Thanks so much for sharing, Linda...
